Broncos to Kick Back

The NFL is less than a month away. After a summer of mind numbing baseball it is back to “America’s Game”, and not a second too soon. There hasn’t even been a pigskin thrown yet but predictions are already being bandied about for the Super Bowl, many are predicting a repeat of this year’s final between Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks – a game in which the much fancied Broncos were humbled 43-8 by the, until then, light scoring Seahawks.

So who, or what, should you be looking to put your money on this season?

DENVER, DENVER, DENVER! You can’t make it much clearer than that. The Colorado based side are Maple Gambling’s top selection for the Super Bowl, with Peyton Manning as your quarterback anything less than favorite is just damn right criminal.

Recently retired tight-end Tony Gonzalez, previously with Kansas City Chiefs and the Atlanta Falcons, in his new role as an analyst for CBS has declared that the Broncos will go 16-0 this season and that there will be no repeat of the 2014 final mishap. The 14-time Pro Bowl selection said:

“Right now, Denver has a team built just like the New England Patriots back when they went undefeated [in the 2007 regular season],

“In looking at Denver in the preseason and Peyton Manning’s command of that offense, he’ll pick up right where he left off last year. And defensively, they went out like good organizations do and addressed their weaknesses.”

The Pats back in 2007 were led by the mercurial Tom Brady, long-time rival of Manning, all the way to the Super Bowl, accruing 16 normal season victories and two further victories in the Play-Offs. However, the New England side could not make it 19, they were defeated in the Super Bowl final by a Manning, this time it was Eli, the younger brother of Denver’s Peyton, who galvanized his New York Giants side late in the fourth quarter, driving them 83 yards down the field for the touchdown to take the score to 17-14 and win the Super Bowl.

Denver self-capitulated in the last Super Bowl. They are going to be really smarting after that, they would have licked their wounds and will be back as a better oiled machine this season. Although you cannot base too much on pre season results the Broncos have already beaten the Seahawks 21-16 in a gritty performance – a showing that would have pleased the Denver faithful, their side showed a mettle that was evidently missing in last year’s final. The addition of T.J. Ward from Cleveland Browns and DeMarcus Ware from the Dallas Cowboys will considerably bolster the Broncos defense.

With a bolstered defense it seems impossible that Denver won’t be lifting the Vince Lombardi trophy next February. This is one of the most offensively gifted football teams that the NFL has ever witnessed. Last season Manning and his teammates ran amok, they eventually finished the season with 606 points, a league record. Expect them to be around that mark again this season.

With an improved defensive side then the Broncos are unstoppable. They are more complete than complete itself. If you are going to bet then don’t bother with formulas just go with the Broncos, they are the question, the working out, and the answer.

Denver will be the Super Bowl champions and Manning, Peyton that is, will end up with the MVP ring.
